This may surprise you, but it is not by using the usual ab exercises like situps, leg lifts or crunches.

The best way to develop those abs is by boosting your metabolism with whole body, multi-joint workouts that work the major muscles in your entire body while also exercising your abdominals.

Ab specific exercises like crunches do tone the ab muscles, but these exercises simply do not burn the fat that gives you that beer belly look. The problem is a type of fat called visceral fat. This is the fat that lies beneath the abdominal muscles and surrounds your organs.

The only way to burn the visceral fat is by increasing your metabolic rate using full body exercises. One example of a metabolic boosting and full body exercise is squats with dumbbells. 

Squats With Dumbbell For Six Pack Abdominals

While standing erect, hold the dumbbells at your sides with palms turned inward. You want to keep your chin up while doing this exercise to keep your neck aligned with your spine, and your spine straight. You now bend your knees until your thighs are parallel to the ground.  Push back up to the starting position. While bending down, keep your shins vertical at all times. 

Other examples of high intensity, full body workouts are lunges, renegade dumbbell rows and mountain climbers on the floor. These types of entire body exercises combined with a healthy and balanced diet are the keys to developing six pack abdominals. This is a much better strategy than doing a lot of ab specific workouts that develop toned muscle on top of a layer of fat.


Let’s not forget that nutrition plays an important role in being able to develop six pack abdominals.

A diet filled with foods containing added sugar and junk foods will add fat to your body no matter how many squats you do. Full body exercises have to be combined with a proper meal plan in order to achieve that lean ab look that you seek.

In summary, stop wasting your time with situps and crunches, and all those worthless ab gadgets and diet pills. Instead, focus on a well designed diet plan
combined with high intensity full body workouts to develop six pack abdominals.
